Doctoral Student Resources

  • The Terry PhD Handbook provides doctoral students information pertaining to the procedures and requirements for the doctoral programs administered by the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.
  • The New Student Orientation is designed to be a resource for new students and provide an efficient method of identifying items that require a student's immediate attention.
  • Terry provides up-to-date placement history (PDF | 91 KB) data of recent doctoral graduates by department so students can understand the likely employment opportunities available once they have completed their studies. The table contains information of a student's first placement and their current institution, as well as the major professor of each student.

Instructional Resources

  • Instructional Resources (CTL)
    Teaching Assistant Support, coordinated by the Center for Teaching and Learning, is dedicated to providing instructional support for the pedagogical development of graduate assistants in preparation for instructional responsibilities at the University of Georgia and in their future careers.
  • Handbook for Graduate TAs
    This handbook is provided for all graduate students with instructional responsibilities. It gives general information about teaching in the undergraduate classroom at the University of Georgia and a list of teaching resources.
  • Classroom Conduct
    Teaching assistants are expected to adhere to all general rules outlined in the handbook for graduate teaching assistants (above) and the rules outlined in this link.
  • Evaluation of Teaching Performance
    Teaching assistants will be evaluated at regular intervals by their students. The intervals are set by the department or school, and are maintained by the department as well. Non-performance will result in a formal review of the assistantship by the appropriate department head or school director, and the graduate coordinator, and the assistantship may be terminated.

  • Graduate School Orientation
    All graduate students should familiarize themselves with the information provided at the graduate school orientation. The above link allows you to view the current year's orientation online.
  • Graduate School Bulletin
    An official publication of the university that describes academic offerings, rules, policies, fees, curricula, calendar, or other matters of the university.
  • Student Handbook
    This handbook serves as a guide to a variety of services and programs aimed at helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. The handbook provides answers to the general questions that you might have about services, programs, rules, and regulations. If you encounter situations not addressed in the handbook, you are encouraged to seek assistance from the appropriate student affairs office.
  • Academic Regulations and Procedures
    The university makes every effort to provide accurate and current information. The university reserves the right to change, without notice, statements in the bulletin concerning rules, policies, fees, curricula, courses, calendar, or other matters. Students enrolled at the university agree to comply with the university's rules and regulations and to accommodate to any changes necessary. Students have the responsibility for keeping themselves apprised of current graduation requirements for their particular degree program.

Important Dates and Deadlines

Application materials should be completed by the end of December if applicants desire to be considered for all forms of financial assistance.

The Graduate School Assistantship competition begins at the end of February and only students who are fully admitted to the department and the Graduate School can be considered. Departmental assistantships are awarded beginning in March. The last day for submitting an application to the UGA Graduate School for domestic students is July 1. The last day for submitting an application to the UGA Graduate School for international students is April 15.

After receiving all required application materials, student applications will be forwarded to the faculty of the department of each student's intended degree for evaluation and recommendation regarding their acceptance to the program. The UGA Graduate School will notify students of the admission decision.

Failure to submit a complete application will delay the application process.
