Online Orientation: Requirements
Registration & Fee Payment
Graduate School policy requires students on an assistantship to register and pay their fees prior to the first day of classes each semester.
Registration:
Registration at the University of Georgia is conducted through the On-Line Access to the Student Information System (OASIS). An overview of the registration process, including an OASIS tutorial and the preliminary steps to take before you begin to register, is provided by the Office of the Registrar. You may use the computer-based OASIS system to pre-register for courses beginning during Phase I of the registration process through late-registration. Registration times and places are provided on the Office of the Registrar web site. Prior to beginning the registration process, you must be advised by the graduate coordinator of your area of study and have the advisor for that area clear you for registration.
Please complete the registration process on time. The Graduate School can and will withhold funding of students not registered.
Fee Payment
Students who hold a graduate assistantship pay a trivial amount of per semester, payable at the beginning of each semester. This figure is based on the minimum registration for a graduate assistant of twelve hours each semester. All students must also pay the activity, athletic, transportation, technology and health fees.
Your student account summary (bill) is available on-line via OASIS. The University recognizes e-mail as an official means of communication and does not mail bills. Every time a charge or payment activity posts to a student account, you will be e-mailed a notice to access OASIS and review the current account status. E-mails will also be sent to remind students of impending due dates, late fee deadlines, and schedule cancellation dates. It is your responsibility to pay your fees by the appropriate due date (see Calendar & Payment Deadlines).
Fees can be paid by credit card on OASIS or at the Business Services Office (Bursar's Office). The Bursar's Office is located at 424 East Broad Street, Room 105 Business Services Building, Athens, GA 30602-4226 (A-6 on a Campus Map, Bldg. 0110). If you are on an assistantship, you can choose to have your fees deducted from your payroll check. This is done when you are in the "Method of Payment" screen in OASIS. However, if you are an international student on an assistantship and do not have a social security card yet, you will not have the option of having your fees deducted from your first paycheck.
Graduate School policy requires students on an assistantship to register and pay their fees prior to the first day of classes each semester. Failure to do so will result in the immediate termination of the assistantship and in an assessment of full tuition and fees.
