Welcome to the PhD Program

I would like to congratulate you on your admission to the program and inform you of several required graduate student orientations. The Graduate School Orientation and Information Fair will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 9:00-11:30 am in the Classic Center. After the morning orientation program, the Graduate Students Association will host a welcome party from 11:30-2:00. Information regarding Graduate School-sponsored events is provided by the UGA Graduate School.

The TA orientation, for all new teaching assistants, will be held Thursday, August 9, from 8:45 - 12:30 p.m. The orientation will be held in Room 101 in the Miller Learning Center. All new graduate students who will have instructional responsibilities are required to attend the Teaching Assistants Orientation (mandatory) before the beginning of fall semester classes. Returning graduate students are encouraged to attend sessions of interest.

To start your orientation to the PhD program, please review the To-do List for New Students. It is important for you to complete the orientation in order to receive any assistantships or scholarships.

I encourage you become familiar with the Terry PhD website. It has links to important program information and provides links to your area of study's Graduate Coordinator Page. The graduate coordinator page is the main web resource for your program. If information is not accessible from the Graduate Coordinator page or the Terry PhD web page, please check with your area's graduate coordinator for a hard copy source of your areas PhD information.
