Publicizing Faculty Activities
In order to clarify where different types of information regarding faculty activities should be sent for publicity, please make note of the guidelines presented below.
Faculty and PhD Student Research
The following information should be sent to Billie West, Administrative Assistant for the Associate Dean for Research:
- refereed research articles
- academic convention talks
- research seminars at other schools
- academic books and book chapters
- appointments as editors, associate editors, and editorial board members
- offices in national and regional professional associations
- awards and fellowships for research accomplishments
Faculty members are welcome to send these items to Billie as they occur. We will also solicit information on these items from department heads each quarter. You are welcome to submit these accomplishments for publication either at the time of acceptance or at the time of publication or upon formal receipt of the honor, but we would like to avoid duplication.
Other Faculty Publications
The following information should be sent to the Office of Marketing and Communications:
- presentations to non-academic audiences
- non-refereed pieces (e.g., op-ed pieces)
- citations of faculty in media
- textbooks and teaching-related publications
Both faculty members themselves and department heads are encouraged to contact the Office of Marketing and Communications as this information becomes available. One of their staff may follow up with the specific faculty member if there are any further questions. The Office of Marketing and Communications may periodically request this information from faculty and department heads as well.
Teaching, Service, Development, and Outreach
The following information regarding teaching, service, development, and outreach should be sent to the Office of Marketing and Communications:
- teaching accomplishments and awards
- leadership positions in teaching, service, and community organizations
- involvement in executive programs
- guest lecturers in classes
- service activities and awards
- development activities
- activities with students and alumni
Other Terry Publications
The Terry Ticker is currently not being published. Instead, the Terry Magazine is now being published two times a year. At various points throughout the year, staff from the Office of Marketing and Communications will contact faculty members and department heads for more detailed stories about faculty, students, staff, and alumni accomplishments.
Questions?
Please understand that, due to space constraints, it may not be possible to publish each and every item submitted. Contact Daniel Feldman or Martha Dennis if you have any questions.
