Research Server

  • What is the research server?
The research server is a SUN machine model E420 with 4 gigs of RAM and 4 CPUs. Currently, users do not have limits on their home (personal) directory, but we ask that you store your data reasonably because we have finite space. You must establish an account to access the research server. Go to account request form.

Faculty, Ph.D. students and research support staff can access the research server on- and off-campus via SSH (version 3.1). SSH is available through the UGA internet kit.

  • If you need a research account...
To get a research account, call (2-6799) or email the Helpdesk: help@terry.uga.edu. Or, fill out an account request form here.

  • What software is on the research server?
    Limdep v7: /usr/local/bin/limdep7

VNI's IMSL libraries are now installed on the research server. Documentation can be found under /usr/local/vni/CTT3.0/notes/f90 and /usr/local/vni/CTT3.0/help.

If you want to use Windows-based software to access the research server, you can use either Cygwin or IceWm, both of which are free software (GPL ) and do not require any licenses.
