Problem: There is no sound. Make sure that the room's audio is not muted. Press the Preset button in the Main Volume area of the touch screen control panel.

Problem: There is still no sound. Make sure that the laptop's audio is not muted. When the laptop's audio is muted you will see the word “MUTE” on the screen with a symbol that looks like a speaker with a line through it, an icon on the taskbar (bottom of the screen) that looks like a speaker with a red circle and line over it, or both. In this case follow the instructions below for laptops running Windows operating systems.

  1. With the mouse right-click on the taskbar icon that looks like a speaker with a red circle and line over it, and select “Open Volume Controls” from the pop-up menu.
  2. A new window named Play Control will appear with several volume sliders and mute checkboxes. If the “Play Control” slider is all the way down then move it all the way up, but be ready to adjust the room's volume on the touch screen control panel. If the checkbox named “Mute all” is checked, then uncheck it.
  3. If any of the other sliders are all the way down or mute checkboxes are checked, then try adjusting the sliders or unchecking the checkboxes.
  4. Close the Play Control window.

If the problem persists, report it to the TCB Helpdesk located in Sanford 304 or by phone at 542-6799.

Using the Programmable Lighting:

The lights in this room are operated from a control panel on the wall next to the whiteboard. The control panel has six buttons labeled On, A, B, C, D, and Off. The On button turns all lights in the room on. The Off button turns all lights in the room off. The A, B, C, and D buttons can be programmed to produce various lighting “scenes”. The scene programming control panel is adjacent to the lighting control panel on the wall next to the whiteboard. To set or change a scene, use the instructions below.

  1. Flip open the faceplate that covers the scene programming controls next to the light wall panel.
  2. Turn lights on or off until you find a scene that is acceptable. The green bars correspond to a subset of the lights in the room, and the two buttons below the bar raise and lower the level of the bar. The level of the bar usually doesn't matter since the lights have just one brightness level. If all the lights on a bar are off, then the subset of lights corresponding to that bar are off.
  3. The “Fade” button controls the rate of change between scenes.
  4. Save your scene by pressing the “Set” button that is marked with a symbol that looks like an “S” on top of another “S”. Then press one of the buttons marked A, B, C, or D on the light wall panel to specify which one corresponds to the scene you just created.
  5. Keep in mind that others may reprogram the scenes in the room. Therefore you may have to recreate your scene if you want to use it again.

While using the lighting, you may encounter the following problems:
