Windows Updates

Windows can keep itself up to date automatically. The instructional videos below will show you how to turn on Windows updates for Windows XP and Windows 2000. Alternately, you can tell Windows to check for updates manually by clicking on the Start button then clicking on Windows Update. If you do not see Windows Update after clicking on the Start button, you can also open Internet Explorer and go to www.windowsupdate.com.

If it has been a long time since Windows Update has run, you will be prompted to install the current version of the Windows Update utility by clicking yes on a Window that appears. Also if Windows has some updates that need to run separately, you will need to run Windows update multiple times until no updates are found. You may need to reboot your machine between these updates. At times other software will need to be updated to a newer version after you have updated Windows.
