Don't Execute Attachments

Virus Warning: Be wary of any email telling you to execute a procedure!! Currently, a virus is circulating that disguises itself as a notification from Microsoft that you need to update your computer by running the attached patch. If you run the executable attachment, it even looks like an official installation in progress. Microsoft, as a policy, does send patches via email. Never execute files sent to you unless you are sure of the source, no matter how “official” an email notice might look. This includes email from “us” (OIT). We will always place executable files (or a link to them) on our web page. Please practice safe and cautious computing. We will make every effort to maintain the Terry OIT web site with the latest information and patches: http://www.terry.uga.edu/oit
