UGA’s Terry College recognizes 2012 Outstanding Faculty Award winners

Athens, Ga. — The Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia presented its awards for outstanding teaching and research to two faculty members in a college-wide meeting Aug. 24.

Dale Goodhue earned the Outstanding Research Award. Goodhue has maintained prolific research productivity, even while serving as head of the Management Information Systems Department. In 2011 he had three articles accepted in top journals, and received two best paper awards. His scholarly record includes one of the top 10 most cited articles in the history of MIS Quarterly, three articles with more than 500 citations each, and 17 with more than 100 citations.

Mark Laplante, senior lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance, received the Outstanding Teaching Award. Although he teaches more 1,000 students a year, Laplante makes an impact on nearly every one of them. His enthusiasm, high standards and clear expectations consistently lead to glowing evaluations and gushing student reviews. His colleagues both within Terry and across campus complement his passion for pedagogy and ability to engage students with difficult material.

The Terry College’s Outstanding Faculty Award winners were chosen by a committee of their peers based on nominations from the college’s seven academic departments. Each recipient received a $1,000 cash prize.
