STEPHEN BAGINSKI AND DANIEL FELDMAN NAMED ASSOCIATE DEANS IN UGA'S TERRY COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

ATHENS, Ga. — Stephen P. Baginski is the new associate dean for academic programs in the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business, and Daniel C. Feldman has been named to the newly created half-time position of associate dean for research in the Terry College.

The two appointments, which became effective August 1, were announced by Dean P. George Benson.

Baginski succeeds Bob Gatewood as associate dean for academic programs. Gatewood retired this summer.

In addition to Feldman's new role as associate dean for research, he will continue to serve as interim head of the Management Department and director of the college's Leadership Research Consortium.

Sandra G. Gustavson continues in her role as associate dean. Her new title is associate dean for faculty and administration. Her responsibilities include budgetary matters, faculty recruiting, faculty promotion and tenure, annual merit review, staff issues and facilities.

"I'm excited about the administrative team we have assembled over the summer," Benson said. "We are already benefiting from their advice and counsel."

Baginski joined the accounting faculty in 2002 from Indiana University, where he was a PricewaterhouseCoopers Fellow and chair of doctoral programs at the Kelley School of Business. He holds the Herbert E. Miller Chair of Financial Accounting in the Tull School of Accounting.

As associate dean, Baginski will oversee all undergraduate and graduate programs in business and their accreditation. These programs include a bachelor's degree in business administration, seven master's degree programs led by the master of business administration (MBA) degree, and doctoral programs in eight academic disciplines.

Prior to Indiana University, Baginski taught at Florida State University, Northeastern University, Illinois State University and the University of Illinois. He received his doctorate from the University of Illinois.

Feldman has been given responsibility for increasing faculty research productivity and the number and size of extramural research grants awarded to Terry College faculty.

Feldman joined the management faculty in 2003 when he was appointed to the Synovus Chair in Servant Leadership.

He has served on the faculties of Yale College, the University of Minnesota Industrial Relations Center, Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management, the University of Florida, and as a Visiting Sloan Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Most recently, he was the James Bradley Distinguished Foundation Fellow Professor of Management at the University of South Carolina. He received his PhD in organizational behavior from Yale University.

Feldman currently serves as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Management. He has also served as chair of the Careers Division of the Academy of Management, as associate editor for Human Resource Management and as consulting editor for Journal of Organizational Behavior. He has won numerous teaching awards at the university, MBA, and college level.

He is the author of six books and more than 100 articles on career management issues in organizations. His book, Coping with Job Loss: How Individuals, Organizations, and Communities Respond to Layoffs, was named one of the four outstanding books of the year by the Academy of Management and has been featured in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
