November 10 FOOD DRIVE COULD CAUSE 'CANDEMONIUM' AT UGA'S TERRY COLLEGE
ATHENS, Ga. — MBA students, faculty and staff from the MBA program at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business will grab all the cans that they can with both hands on Thursday, November 10, to benefit a charitable food drive called Candemonium. The collected canned goods will be donated to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.
The Terry College's Graduate Business Association and Volunteer Dawgs organized the competition, which will pit at least two teams of Terry MBAs, faculty and staff against each other to see who can design and build the most imaginative display of canned goods on the front lawn of Brooks Hall.
Teams will have the option to begin building their displays when the clock strikes midnight on Thursday. Using little more than their wits, some rubber bands and perhaps some double-stick tape, the teams must complete their eye-catching inventions of canned and boxed foods by 5 pm — 17 hours after the competition begins.
Judging will take place at 5:30 pm The displays will be judged on the following criteria: number of cans in structure (80%), best use of labels (5%), structural ingenuity (5%) and jurors' favorite (10%).
The winning team will receive a $100 discount toward the cost of the team members' admission to the Graduate Business Association's Turkey Day Dinner for the teams and event organizers to be held at the Foundry Park Inn following the competition.
The cans, each required to be a nutritious food staple, will all be packed up and donated to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia following the competition.
