EXECUTIVE EDUCATION CENTER OPEN HOUSE AND GRAND OPENING RECEPTION SERVE NOTICE OF TERRY'S GROWING PRESENCE IN ATLANTA
ATHENS, Ga. — The University of Georgia's Terry College of Business is hosting an open house and grand opening reception on Tuesday, May 24, for the college's new Executive Education Center in Atlanta, located on Lenox Road across from Lenox Square Mall.
The open house will take place from 11 a.m. to 3:00 pm with light refreshments provided. The invitation-only grand opening reception that evening will include a ribbon cutting and remarks by UGA President Michael F. Adams and Terry College Dean P. George Benson.
Outdoor signage announcing the college's expanded presence in Buckhead was added to the One Live Oak building last November, but the 25,000-square-foot facility continued to be under extensive renovation throughout the winter.
The Executive Education Center made a low-key debut in February, drawing rave reviews from the students, faculty and alumni who have sampled the facility in its limited use thus far. The new facility will accommodate the growth of the Terry College's Executive MBA program — now in its fourth year — and networking events like the Terry Third Thursday speaker series. The amenity-filled center is capable of staging and supporting a variety of academic and professional programs.
"Opening the Executive Education Center is the most significant new development at the Terry College since Sanford Hall was built in 1997," Benson said. "As a business school, we need to be part of the business community. This is our anchor in Atlanta."
Spanning three floors, the Executive Education Center has tiered executive classrooms, break-out meeting rooms, conference rooms, a seminar room, interview suites and office space for faculty, staff and Terry's executives-in-residence, according to facility manager Tracy Keiser.
The second floor features a large multipurpose room for receptions, dinners and other special events. As the new home of the Terry Third Thursday executive speaker series, the room can comfortably accommodate more than 100 guests for a sit-down breakfast and audiences of up to 200 people. The facility's audio-visual equipment also allows a program taking place in the reception room to be simulcast throughout the center.
One Live Oak Center is accessible from the nearby limited access highways (I-85, I-75 and Hwy. 400) or by Atlanta's rapid transit system (MARTA). Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is a 20-minute drive to the south and can also be reached by MARTA train from the Lenox station. Secure and covered parking is provided by One Live Oak's adjoining multilevel garage.
