TERRY COLLEGE PROFESSOR PAT MCKEOWN INDUCTED INTO TEXTBOOK ASSOCIATION'S COUNCIL OF FELLOWS
ATHENS, Ga. — Patrick G. McKeown, head of the Management Information Systems Department at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business, has been picked for induction this summer into the Council of Fellows of the Text and Academic Authors Association (TAA).
McKeown is just the 13th author to be named a fellow from among TAA's 1,100 members in recognition of a long and diverse educational writing career. McKeown was nominated for the honor by Craig Piercy, a faculty colleague and co-author with McKeown. The induction ceremony will take place at TAA's annual convention June 20-21 in Richmond, Va.
McKeown has published more than 30 books on management science, information systems, electronic commerce and many different computer programming languages. He has taught thousands of students in various subjects, including introduction to information systems, programming, e-commerce strategies and revenue management.
McKeown is retiring from the Terry College this spring after 27 years on the faculty, during which he served as the MIS coordinator and the founding MIS department head. He joined the college in 1976 as a member of the Department of Risk Management, Insurance and Management Science and was a member of the Department of Management Science when it split off in 1978. He moved to the Department of Management in1992 and was instrumental in establishing MIS as an independent department in 1999. He and his wife, Carolyn, will relocate to New Zealand in June to take a five-month visiting faculty position at Massey University after he retires.
TAA is an organization committed to the advancement of text and academic authoring and to the creation of quality educational materials at every instructional level. It provides assistance to both published authors and prospective authors. The group's annual convention presents topics of interest to academic authors, ranging from publisher contracts to writing effectively and understanding royalty statements.
