TERRY COLLEGE OF BUSINESS NAMES ARGY S. RUSSELL TO HEAD UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS PROGRAM FOR UGA AT GWINNETT

ATHENS, Ga. — The Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia has named Argy S. Russell as its new director of the college's undergraduate business program offered at the Gwinnett University Center.

As director, Russell's responsibilities will include managing Terry's undergraduate classes and infrastructure at the Gwinnett site, serving as a liaison between the Terry College and other UGA at Gwinnett and GUC programs, and recruiting students for the undergraduate business program from the local community.

Russell will be breaking new ground for the Terry College, which is offering undergraduate business courses at the Gwinnett University Center in Lawrenceville for the first time this fall for transfer students who want to obtain a general business degree or students who already have a bachelor's degree in another subject. The new undergraduate program will complement Terry's evening MBA program in Gwinnett, which was established in 2000 to serve working professionals. UGA is offering three undergraduate degree programs in Gwinnett this fall - the other new programs are in education and general science.

"We are very pleased that Ms. Russell has joined the Terry College's leadership team to help us launch Terry's new undergraduate business program in Gwinnett County," said Dean P. George Benson. "Her extensive background in admissions and counseling of business students will be invaluable in the development and growth of the program."

Russell received her bachelor's degree in marketing from the Terry College, and her master's degree in career/organizational development from Georgia State University. Her more than 20 years of professional experience in higher education include serving as director of admissions for the Stetson School of Business and Economics at Mercer University's Atlanta campus and in admissions and counseling positions at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.

Russell said she looks forward to the challenge of establishing the new program in Gwinnett, which she expects will be especially successful in recruiting recent transplants to metro Atlanta who might not otherwise be familiar with the Terry College or UGA.

"My job is to announce that Terry is here with this bachelor's completion program," she said. "This is an opportunity for us to reach out to people who may be new to the area and expand the Terry College's footprint into the greater Atlanta area."

Information about all UGA at Gwinnett programs is available online at http://gwinnett.uga.edu.
