RICHARD WATSON, DIRECTOR OF THE TERRY COLLEGE CENTER FOR INFORMATION SYSTEMS LEADERSHIP, TO SPEAK AT TERRY THIRD THURSDAY
ATHENS, Ga. — Richard Watson, director of the Center for Information Systems Leadership in the Terry College of Business, will be the featured speaker at the next Terry Third Thursday program in Atlanta on April 19.
Co-sponsored by Merrill Lynch and the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business, the lecture series features business executives and UGA faculty at a breakfast meeting on the third Thursday of the month. The programs are held from 7-9 a.m. at the UGA Alumni Club in the Atlanta Financial Center.
The topic of Watson's lecture is "Learning to See: The Art of Electronic Commerce."
professor of management information systems, Watson has been twice recognized as one of the 10 most productive researchers in MIS. He has been actively involved in electronic commerce research since 1994. Watson has published more than 70 articles and books on electronic commerce and data management, and he has given invited presentations on electronic commerce in more than a dozen countries.
Watson is a senior editor for MIS Quarterly, the leading journal in his field. He is the general chair for the E-Commerce/E-Business International Conference to be held in Beijing in 2002 and the co-conference chair for the 2004 meeting of the International Conference on Information Systems. He was recently elected the vice president for communications of the Association for Information Systems.
He is on the advisory board of SelfHelpWeb.com and Listevent.com. John Wiley and Sons recently appointed him as its consulting editor for electronic commerce.
Watson received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, where he studied on a Fulbright award, and his MBA from Monash University in Australia. In addition, he holds a diploma in computation and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Western Australia.
