Speaking on behalf of the National Music Publishers Association, Terry faculty member and musician David Lowery and NMPA President David Israelite convened a press conference to discuss legal action the organization is taking against unlicensed lyrics websites.

The legal recourse was based upon a paper by Lowery, a lecturer in the Music Business Program, that found that a large number of websites posting unlicensed lyrics are generating ad revenue that is not being shared with the songwriters.

The press conference details the legal action the NMPA is taking against 50 unlicensed lyrics websites like Rap Genius and why the move is being made.
