David Lowery, faculty member in the Music Business Program and leader of the bands Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven, did a long-form interview with Salon.com, covering his take on the GoldieBlox vs. Beastie Boys lawsuit, his take on copyright infringement in music and his problems with Silicon Valley.
"With GoldieBlox, though, this is a company that says, 'Oh, we’re Kickstartering these girls’ toys,' but then they go and preemptively sue the Beastie Boys using a really big and powerful law firm. This isn’t David and Goliath, but it’s been represented that way," Lowery said. "People need to pay attention here. Why do these things happen this way?"
