Legal studies professor Tim Samples was quoted in a Bloomberg News article detailing George Soros’s involvement in a legal fight over Argentina’s debt.

A fund managed by Soros’s office has joined a lawsuit claiming that the trustee for bond payments, Bank of New York Mellon Corp., should have distributed interest payments on Argentina’s debt for overseas bonds. The crux of this dispute, filed in London, revolves around the application of a U.S. court’s injunctions to bonds governed by foreign jurisdictions. Argentina recently defaulted for the second time in 13 years.

“In a broader sense, what’s going on right now is the chickens coming home to roost,” Samples said.“People have been warning for years about the complexities and burdens for third parties in this case and we’re just seeing that unfold.”
