The Music Business Program continues to expand the meaning of business education at the University of Georgia. Since 2009, we’ve tripled our enrollment, added three new classes, brought world-renowned speakers to campus, and placed students in some of the music world's most competitive internships. It seems that every day, there's something new going on at MBUS.

Our new classes are designed to enhance the skills and increase the knowledge base of MBUS students. In Promotions and Publicity Techniques for Music Business, students learn to navigate the hectic world of music publicity and radio promotion. The Music Production class provides hands-on experience in our new recording lab, where students use ProTools to mix and master recordings. The Live Concert Recording class teaches students how to record live concerts by touring artists. Students in this class have partnered with local radio station WUGA FM, which will broadcast recordings from class beginning in the fall. Concerts will include Patterson Hood and the Downtown Rumblers, Of Montreal, the Whigs, Jonathan Richman and more.

This semester, MBUS has also brought world-class talent to lecture. Through partnerships with UGA's special collections libraries and its Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, students have heard from Bertis Downs, manager of R.E.M.; Alex Cooley, world-renowned concert promoter; and Peter Conlon, president of the promotion company Live Nation.
