Tim Samples, an assistant professor of legal studies, co-authored a research paper that received the Holmes-Cardozo Award for Best Submitted Conference Paper from the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB) at the international organization’s annual conference.
The award recognizes significant, unpublished original legal research. The ALSB judges papers by the quality of their scholarly contribution to the discipline of legal studies.
The paper, “Puerto Rico’s Debt Dilemma and Pathways Towards Sovereign Solvency,” analyzes the problems in sovereign debt finance in the context of Puerto Rico’s debt dilemma and provides valuable insights on factors that influence debtor-creditor cooperation in distressed restructurings.
The paper was recently accepted for publication in the American Business Law Journal (forthcoming 2017).
Samples’ co-author, Stephen Kim Park, is an assistant professor of business law at the University of Connecticut.
