Over the last few months, when he was not teaching or researching (last year was his best publication year ever, with three papers in premier journals), Dale Goodhue was training for the 2013 “Athens to Savannah” bicycle ride.

He successfully completed the 2013 ride on the weekend of April 26-28. On day #1 (110 miles), he finished in the first half of the 80 riders. Day #2 (100 miles) was bit tougher, but Dale finished in the top 80 riders. This was his 9th Athens to Savannah ride in ten years.

The ride is a fundraiser for the Foundation for Excellence in Public Education, which honors outstanding teachers and administrators in Clarke County Public Schools. Over its 12 year history, this ride has raised over $160,000 dollars for Clarke County Schools.
