As founder and former president of Anderson Properties, Inc., Gene Anderson is currently Senior Vice President of Highwoods Properties and serves on the Board of Directors, the Investment Committee, and the Executive Committee, in addition to being one of the largest individual shareholders in Highwoods.

Anderson is a strong proponent of professional development, and has served as Director of the National Association of Industrial & Office Propertiesas well as President of its Georgia Chapter. He's also been an officer in the Society of Industrial & Office Realtors and is a past editor of the Real Estate Journal.

Gene likes to spend his spare time in the great outdoors...and has traveled from Alaska to the Amazonfrom the Blue Ridgeto the Bugaboos.pursuing his passion for huntingfishingand other outdoor sports.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the Terry College in 1967was a Captain in the U.S. Armyand, for more than 25 years, has been active in Georgia real estate. In the past 12 years alone, he's developed more than 13 million square feet of commercial real estate with a value of $975 million.
