JOHN WURST

John Wurst

John is Vice President of Marketing Sciences, Senior Consultant, and Practice Leader at SDR Consulting. His responsibilities include statistical design and analysis, proposal development, project management, and client relationships. In addition, he serves as a primary methodological consultant internally.

John's specific areas of expertise include pricing, product optimization, new product development, market segmentation, and customer/employee satisfaction modeling.

His research has been presented at professional meetings both nationally and internationally, and published in a variety of academic and practitioner outlets including The Journal of Business & Economic Statistics, The Journal of Professional Pricing, and Marketing Research. Recent publications and presentations include the following:

"Advances in Market Segmentation" by William D. Neal and John Wurst, Marketing Research, 2001, Vol. 13, no.1, pp. 14-18.

"Optimal Pricing Through Value Modeling" by David Feldman and John Wurst, The Journal of Professional Pricing, 2001, Vol.10, no. 2, pp. 31-33.

"Incorporating Purchase Intent Threshold Information into Preference Based Conjoint Analysis" by John Wurst, Bill Neal, David Feldman, poster presentation at the 10th Annual Advanced Research Techniques Forum (American Marketing Association conference), Santa Fe, New Mexico, June, 1999.

"Integrating Frequency of Purchase into a Discrete Choice Framework to Enhance the Estimation of Market Shares" by John Wurst, Warren F. Kuhfeld, and Brian Griner, presented at the Eighth Annual Advanced Research Techniques Forum (American Marketing Association conference), Monterey, California, June 1997.

John regularly teaches executive seminars on experimental design, conjoint, and discrete choice for marketing research applications. In addition, he has served as an ad hoc reviewer and referee for Marketing Research, The Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, and the Decision Sciences Institute national meetings.

Prior to joining SDR Consulting in 1996, John was on the faculty at the Goizueta Business School, Emory University. While at Emory he received the MBA Distinguished Educator Award, and was mentioned in Business Week's Guide to the Best Business Schools, 2nd Edition.

John received his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in Management Science (Quantitative Business Analysis). He also acquired an MS in Statistics and was awarded a BS in Chemistry with honors. Both are from the University of Miami.
