MIS Mixer

The MIS Advisory Board, SMIS, and The MIS Department host an annual Fall Mixer at the Lake Herrick Pavilion with the goal of uniting the "MIS Family". This fall the faculty, staff, students, and corporate alumni all enjoyed eating catered food from Shane's Rib Shack and Earth Fare, playing volleyball and trivia, and winning raffle prizes such as iPods and gift certificates to Best Buy.

Fall Recruitment Dinner

In the fall, our student organization, SMIS, holds a recruitment dinner. Students and company representatives come together in a social atmosphere to learn about each other. The event starts with a drinks and hors d'oeuvres and mingling, before being seated for dinner. The dinner has been held in various locations over the years; last fall it was at the Georgia Center.

Companies buy a few tables at approximately $300 per table. Students and company representatives sit together at these tables. Students submit their resumes which are compiled into books and presented to each company. There is generally one speaker from a company presenting on a topic related to IT, transitioning from school to the workplace, or any pertinent topic. After the talk, prizes donated by companies (usually with the company logo) are raffled to the students.

Terry Tailgate Party

In conjunction with Homecoming Weekend, the Terry College of Business hosts a Tailgate Party in front of Brooks Hall before the homecoming football game. All Board members are sent registration information and are invited to attend the Tailgate Party.
