Spring 2011
(L-R) Chris Sanders, SMIS President 2009–10, Ken Foster, Senior Technical Audience Marketing Manager for Microsoft, and Dr. Mark Huber, SMIS Faculty Advisor.
The Society for MIS won the Association for Information Systems (AIS) 2010 Student Chapter of the Year. Selected from 55 AIS student chapters and over 3,000 students worldwide, the MIS Department’s student organization, SMIS, earned top honors from AIS, the world’s premier organization for IS academics. This is the highest award an AIS student chapter can win and is awarded for outstanding performance in leadership, community service, professional relations and more.
For the past two years, SMIS has been led by Chris Sanders. He and his team did an excellent job of energizing MIS majors, increasing membership, managing sometimes twice weekly company meetings, and serving the university community. Chris will be graduating this Spring and going to work for E&Y.
