What are the minimum eligibility requirements to apply for the LLSP?
(1) You must be admitted to, or applying to, the Terry College; (2) You must have a UGA GPA of at least 3.2.
Can I apply if I am a 3rd-year student?
Only if you plan on staying in the Terry College for a 5th year to complete your degree. The typical case is an accounting student pursuing a MAcc degree.
Can I participate in the LLSP and study abroad during the next 2 years?
Only if you confine your study abroad plans to the summer term. Leadership Scholars are not allowed to study abroad during the academic year.
Is there a fee to enter the LLSP?
No, the cost of the program is underwritten by private donations.
Does the LLSP provide summer internships?
No, but the program does prepare you for your internship search.
How do the mandatory ILAD courses count toward my degree requirements?
They count as business electives or as institutional option electives.
Are there any prerequisites for the ILAD courses?
The only prerequisite is admission into the LLSP.
Can I receive Honors credit for the mandatory ILAD courses?
Yes, Honors students enrolled in ILAD 4100 and 5100 will receive Honors Program credit; Honors credit is not awarded for ILAD 5000.
What are the expectations of the LLSP?
The program's expectations are listed in the contract each student must sign to be admitted. The message of the contract is that LLSP will make significant demands on your time and we expect participants to make program activities and events a top priority.
If I am admitted to the LLSP, can I earn a certificate in leadership?
Yes, most scholars do so as well by fulfilling the course requirements of the certificate.
How is the LLSP different from the LEAD Program?
The main differences are: (1) The LLSP is open only to Terry undergraduates; LEAD is open to all UGA undergraduates. (2) The LLSP involves a 2-year commitment and its activities make greater demands on your time; the LEAD program can be completed in one year and has fewer extracurricular demands.
