Courses

The LLSP curriculum is centered on 3 core courses:

ILAD 4100 Leadership and Personal Development (Fall Year 1)

Examines leadership theories and offers in-depth assessment of skills, personality, attitudes and behaviors to develop individual leadership competencies. (3 Credits)

ILAD 5000 Personal Career Management (Fall, Year 1)

Offers training in job search skills (resume writing, interviewing skills, networking and negotiation) and career planning. (1 Credit)

ILAD 5100 Organizational Leadership (Fall, Year 2)

Examines leadership in organizational settings with emphasis on the servant-leader model. (3 Credits; Prerequisite, ILAD 4100)

Each LLSP class enrolls and completes the core courses together, facilitating strong class bonds that are a hallmark of the program. Leonard Scholars earn a Certificate in Personal and Organization Leadership by successfully completing 9 additional hours of approved electives.

Beyond the core courses, ILA offers 2 electives of its own:

ILAD 4990 Leadership in the Global Marketplace (Maymester)

Offered in conjunction with ILA's Tanzania study abroad program, this course explores current global leadership issues and the activities of international business organizations in Africa. (3 Credits)

ILAD 5500/7500 Lessons in Leadership (Fall)

Led by Pat Pittard, Terry College Distinguished Executive-in-Residence and former CEO of Heidrick and Struggles, this course examines current leadership issues facing corporations and government. (3 Credits)

Honors Program Credit

Students who participate in UGA's Honors Program may receive honors credit for ILAD courses.
