Current Projects

A committee of full professors (who are not applying for LRC funding) is formed to evaluate proposals and award faculty grants with the Terry College of Business. The proposals are evaluated on the theoretical innovation and methodological rigor of the proposal, the applied nature of research and relationship to leadership, whether the project is broadly defined, the feasibility of the project, and the track record of the faculty member in bringing research projects to closure and to publication.

Student Grants

Each year the Leadership Research Consortium names two undergraduate students as Leadership Research Scholars. Students are encouraged to consider leadership research questions from a wide variety of disciplines. The main criteria for selection are the feasibility and quality of the research project and the student's overall academic record at the University of Georgia. Each student must also identify a faculty member who is willing to sponsor and supervise the research project. Recipients receive an award of $1,000 and $500 for expenses associated with conducting their leadership research projects. The following students were named as Leadership Research Scholars for the 2004-2005 academic year:

  • Scott Friend, Marketing Major, “Leadership Characteristics in Marketing: A Dyadic Comparison of Consumer Opinion Leaders and Marketer Industry Leaders” — Supervised by Dr. Barbara Carroll
  • Brian Quinif, Political Science Major, “The HOPE Scholarship Program” — Supervised by Dr. David Mustard
