What alumni say about their ILA experiences
"I actually found out mid-month that I have been promoted early from analyst to consultant effective this Fall. I was told by my career counselor that it is very difficult to get promoted early especially considering my time at level. Therefore I was very grateful and it makes me feel good that my hard work is paying off. I also would like to mention that I owe much of my success in the work place to the Scholars program. It prepared me immensely for the kind of situations I was going to encounter in the working world. I cannot even begin to count the number of benefits I've felt like I received from the program and I just wanted to extend a thank you."

"It is interesting how much my education has really prepared me for all aspects of this job. I bring a certain amount of business and leadership education that gets lost in the project management performed by my peers. Even simple things like business etiquette and not being afraid to speak up, participate and critically analyze the status quo have helped me find my place here and, I'd like to think, helped me stand out. My bosses and peers are somewhat surprised when I volunteer to perform a boring or not-popular task, and I feel I have learned more about the company and my job as a result of tackling those tasks. I had the opportunity to help interview a PhD-level job candidate the other week, and I feel like I asked some questions that really shed light onto her leadership ability and styles which may not be a good match for RTI. It felt good to know what to ask in order to find people who fit our vision, values and strategic goals. In short, I feel like you, Terry and the Scholars Program have really prepared me for what I face on a day-to-day level. I am really thankful for how much you have invested in me, and I want to give back to the Program in any way needed."
"Through much wise counsel - particularly through what was instilled in me through the Scholars Program - I realized that if I found a job that inspired me, a successful career was bound to follow. In other words, if I embarked with a purpose, then excellence would inevitably follow. I took a risk and entered into the advertising field (something somewhat uncommon for a Marketing major), but the risk paid off - I am now doing something that I love, every single day of the week. And doing what I love is how I define success. I think the value that really changed the way I live my life and do business is stewardship. LLSP instilled in me that the opportunities and talents I have been given come with great responsibility, and I owe those who have entrusted me - my family, my employer, the LLSP program - my very best."
