ILA To Host Maximum Impact: The Influential Leader
Maximum Impact: The Influential Leader is one of the largest events of its kind in the world, yet still personal enough to impact you and your management team in measurable ways. On April 29, 2005, The Influential Leader will be the premiere leadership development experience that allows you and your team to learn from leadership authorities. The speakers for the day will include:

Teaching Leadership Workshop
The Teaching Leadership Workshop conducted by ILA will be held May 16-18 at the Atlanta Executive Education Center, One Live Oak, 3475 Lenox Road, Atlanta, GA 30326. Faculty members who want to increase the leadership dimension within their management courses, who are or will be teaching courses in leadership, and who want to expand their knowledge of leadership should attend, along with administrators who are interested in designing student leadership programs and coursework. Nash On Leadership Panel
Jennifer Nash, ILA Corporate and Community Relations Manager, participated in a distinguished panel of women from different segments of the work world to discuss how they became effective leaders. The event was attended by almost 100 students to hear panelists share their observations, struggles and accomplishments while pursuing their careers. The Women in Leadership Panel discussion was held in the UGA Tate Center on March 30 as part of the celebration of Women's History Month and was sponsored by the Leadership Resource Team along with the UGA Career Center.

Leonard Leadership Scholars

Scholars in Arch Society
Four Leonard Leadership Scholars have been chosen as new members of the Arch Society - pictured from left to right: Chloe Thompson (International Business), Mycla Palmer (Management), [Ashley Rudolph (Marketing and Spanish) is a returning member and Vice Chair of Assignments], Meg Gamble (Marketing), and Kathleen McNicholas (International Business). There are 36 members of the Arch Society, and the students serve as official student ambassadors for UGA, representing the University to dignitaries and at other functions.

Youth Leadership Athens
On March 28, 2005, the 2006 class of Leonard Leadership Scholars presented the business session of the Youth Leadership Athens program to 40 Athens high school students. Entitled "Building YOUR Foundation for Success," the session focused on the processes essential to the continued leadership development of the participants. The event included a discussion on leadership that was created and presented by 2006 scholars Meg Gamble (Marketing) and Joseph Antonio (Accounting). A panel of 2005 and 2006 scholars also fielded questions from the students and parents about their college experiences. The successful evening was beneficial to both YLA students and Leadership Scholars alike.

Antarctica comes to Athens Jeff Foote, Director of Water Rights and Environment for The Coca-Cola Company spoke to scholars on March 9. Jeff works closely with and was the guest of Earl Leonard. Jeff has twice traveled to all the continents leading the environmental cause of conserving, replenishing, and utilizing water and he shared some fantastic slides and wisdom with scholars. He leads employees in plants all over the world to embrace water rights.

Capstone Learning Service Project After months of planning, many meetings, and a lot of effort, the Day of Leadership for the students at Central High School was nothing short of a great success. The ILAD Chargers - Navid Abghari (Finance/Economics), Jeremy Brook (Management), Michael Lage (Marketing), Megan Murphy (Accounting), and Meredith Wilson (Finance) - spent the night in Macon on Thursday and arrived at Central High School at 7:30am Friday morning... L.E.A.D. Program

L.E.A.D. Hail And Farewell Scheduled The L.E.A.D. program will be hosting its semiannual Hail and Farewell ceremony on Wednesday, April 27 from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at the Georgia Museum of Art. The students graduating from the L.E.A.D. program will be honored at the event in a ceremony where they will receive their leadership certificates. In addition, the L.E.A.D. program will also be welcoming in our newly selected class of students. All new, current and graduating L.E.A.D. students are invited. Hope to see you there.

Salvation Army Volunteer Work On March 22, ten L.E.A.D. students volunteered their time and effort at the local Salvation Army here in Athens. The students helped by serving food and drinks to local homeless families. Jennifer Geller (Risk Management and Insurance), Vice President of Community Service for the L.E.A.D. program, said that most of the students enjoyed talking to the families and learning about their lives. "I think everyone had a relaxing, engaging time meeting new people and interacting with people of different backgrounds" said Geller. The L.E.A.D. program will be hosting two more community events at the local Athens soup kitchens on April 11 and April 20.

Students Receive One Of UGA's Top Honors
  Three L.E.A.D. students were recently initiated into one of the most recognized honor societies on campus. Eddie Goepp (Finance), Mallory Grebel (Social Work), and Joey Kendrick (Finance) were initiated in the Blue Key honor society which recognizes students who have displayed exemplary leadership qualities and academic commitment while attending the University of Georgia. Students are nominated by current Blue Key members, deans, the Athletic Association, Student Affairs Personnel, and the Leadership UGA Program.
