- When does advising start each semester and how do I make an appointment to be advised?
Advising for students who are currently in the major begins approximately three weeks after the semester begins. Appointments are scheduled online. Students can check their registration date through OASIS and should make sure they schedule an appointment at least one week prior to that date. Students pursuing the major are advised by the pre-business advisors in the Franklin College of Arts & Sciences. - Are Risk Management classes available for non-majors?
Major classes are coded Permission of Major in the OASIS system and usually fill early in the registration process. If any seats are available at the end of registration, other students in the Terry College of Business may request to take them as general electives on a first come, first served basis. RMIN 4000 is a pre-requisite for all other RMIN classes. - What can I do with a degree in Risk Management and Insurance?
Potential career positions for the student with a major in risk management and insurance include risk analyst, risk manager, underwriter, employee benefits analyst, insurance administrator, claims adjuster, agent, and loss control specialist, to name a few. - I am a Risk Management major and need help with interviewing skills and resume writing. Where can I go for assistance?
The Career Center has a team devoted to Terry College of Business students. - If I am accepted to Risk Management as a double major, have completed a lot of hours, or have changed my major, how many semesters do I need to allow to complete the Risk Management major courses?
It takes 3 semesters to complete the major courses because of pre-requisites. RMIN 4000 is the first required course and the pre-requisite for all other major courses. If that course has been completed or is in process at the time of acceptance, 2 more semesters are required (fall and spring - no major courses except 4000 are taught in the summer.)
