Dr. Steven Pottier,
CLU, has a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and is an Associate
Professor of Risk Management and Insurance. Dr. Pottier teaches property-liability
insurance and life insurance and serves as faculty advisor to Gamma Iota Sigma
(insurance honor society). His research interests focus on the application
of finance theory and empirical techniques to risk management and insurance.
He has conducted research on insurer financial ratings, insurer solvency
issues, financial regulation of insurers, the choice of insurer organizational
form, and liability insurance issues. Dr. Pottier has published in the
Journal of Risk and Insurance, the Journal
of Financial Services Research, the Journal
of Insurance Regulation, the Journal of Insurance
Issues and the Texas Law Review. He
serves as a consultant and expert on financial issues related to the insurance
industry.
