One special aspect of International Business Programs is the organization and promotion of various study abroad programs offered by the Terry College. Proportionally more Terry students participate in study abroad programs than those in any other department of the University.

Although not a requirement of the major, choosing a study abroad program is highly recommended, as it enhances one's college experience, employability and person. Each Terry Abroad program incorporates business courses so students work toward their degrees while strengthening their foreign language skills and experiencing first-hand international business approaches and diverse cultures. These programs can also be a great way to make friends and potential contacts for future business prospects.

International Business Programs strives to create relationships abroad with organizations and schools interested in furthering these goals. Many courses are taught in English, but there are also quite a few taught in foreign languages which a student could possibly count toward a language minor. Each Terry Abroad business course fulfills either a major or elective degree requirement. Students participating in a University-approved academic program such as the National Student Exchange (NSE), UGA international exchange program or approved study abroad program are exempt from the residence requirement that 45 of the last 60 credit hours be completed in residence; rather, in such cases, students need to complete 45 of the 121 credit hours at UGA to satisfy the requirement.
