Course, Credit, and Eligibility:
Students will receive three (3) credit hours for the following business class:
MIST 5780: Globalization and IT -- Introduction to globalization and its linkage with information
technology. Topics covered include globalization strategies, cultural and structural issues impacting the
development, adoption and use of IT, offshore sourcing, the digital divide and e-readiness. Prereq: MIST
2090/2190H or CSCI 1100-1100L.

Excursions:
Excursions in Beijing and Shanghai will include visits to sites such as Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall,
the Summer Palace, the Bund and Port of Shanghai. A city tour of Dalian as well as business and cultural
visits there are part of the class.
Accommodations:
Dormitory style accommodations in Dalian. In Beijing and Shanghai, double occupancy accommodations in
centrally-located, 4-star hotels, breakfast included.
Cost:
$2725 includes lodging (double occupancy), group meals, guided tours of cultural sites and business visits,
travel insurance and visa. This does not include tuition or international airfare (group fare approx.
$1700).

Enrollment:
Limited to 12 business and pre-business students. Priority consideration will be given to students who
submit their application and a $350 application fee by January 8, 2008 (refundable only if denied
admission).
