International Business Society
The International Business Society is a student-led organization in Terry College of Business that aims to cultivate all students interested in business on the international level. This society offers many opportunities to meet with international companies, professors in Terry, and new friends with common interests. This year the IB Society is looking to add to our events in order to develop future leaders through a variety of opportunities for involvement.
Who We Are
Ever wondered what it was like to settle negotiations while sailing the seven seas of the world? Have a desire to interact with other students who have interests in carrying their talents across borders, perhaps utilizing your different language skills?
International Business Society is just the organization for you. We bring together students seeking to immerse themselves in different cultures throughout the world while enhancing their level of professionalism in an open-minded environment. Students build relationships with their classmates, UGA faculty, and employers who have had the opportunity to explore the world and gain knowledge at an international level. What's a better way to learn about a region of the world than from the stories of those who have been there? Whether it's watching an exhilarating soccer match in Spain, swimming through the Great Barrier Reef of Australia, setting up fashion shows in Ghana, or riding the high speed trains of Japan, our members can experience them all.
What We Offer
- Annual Spring Terry Cup: The Terry Cup is an annual kickball tournament that provides Terry societies, faculty, and staff an opportunity to network and give back to the Athens community through food donations to the Food2Kids. Food2Kids is a nonprofit organization that provides food for children in the local Athens Community. The event will be held April 21, from 1:00–6:00 pm. Anyone inside and outside of Terry is open to create a team of 10-15 players. Please email Brooke Bauer if you are interested in creating a team and participating in the event.
- Company Meetings: The IB Society works for you to create meetings that help you establish a base for networking in your future career. We offer a variety of presentations from global companies at society events. This year we have planned events with global companies like UPS, KPMG, Ignition, and Export Georgia.
- Faculty Luncheon and Learn: The society is pleased to announce the bi-weekly faculty lunches with different professors throughout Terry. This semester we have professors from departments that include (but are not limited to) Accounting, Management, Management Information Systems, Economics, Marketing, and Finance.
- Atlanta Field Trip: This year, IB Society is happy to announce the first ever field trip to visit Coca-Cola in Atlanta between 10:00-1:00 on March 23. The society will be participating in a panel discussion, eating lunch with different members of the global industry, and taking a tour of Coca-Cola's headquarters. Look out for an email regarding more information on how to RSVP for this event.
If you are not currently on the IB Society listserv, become a member today so that we can add you to get weekly updates on our events.
