"Understanding the Indian Business Environment"
February 7 - 21, 2009
India is a country of contradictions and contrasts. Our program will visit 3 of India's more influential cities: Mumbai (formerly Bombay), the commercial heart of India and is rich in financial institutions, service firms and hosts offices for some of the country's and the world's leading companies - from consultancies to airlines to mega-corporations such as the Tata Group or Infosys. Bangalore, is noted for its highly intelligent and well educated population of computer programmers, engineers and scientists, as well as for its plentiful and cheap labor force that have fueled the BPO industry. Delhi's main industries include information technology, telecommunications, hotels, banking, media and tourism. Delhi's manufacturing industry has also grown considerably.
India has attracted billions of dollars' worth of foreign direct investment (FDI) from the US, Japan, UK, Germany and France, who have built and bought manufacturing facilities, service centers, R&D labs and financial service providers. These same reforms also prompted a more entrepreneurial development. Speculation runs high as to where these cities will be in 5, 10, and even 15 years' time.
Join the Director of Executive Programs for an intimate introduction to these business environments of India. Participants will have a unique opportunity to witness firsthand the challenges and rewards of conducting business in these key developing markets by interacting directly with firms doing business in India. A full-day seminar preceding the international residency will expose participants to:
History and culture
Overall business environment
Economic outlook
Financial government, legal, and regulatory environment
