CFP (Certified Financial Planner) Certification Education - Classroom
Policies and Procedures
The Executive Program for Financial Planning Certification is designed to satisfy the educational requirement of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. and is presented as a comprehensive package requiring financial and academic commitment. It is not intended to be marketed on a per class basis and therefore, is not valued or billed on a pro-rata basis. The number of classes a student has completed is irrelevant to the total tuition due.
Grades: For each of the five academic classes, there will be a midterm and final exam. The mid-term exam counts for 30% of the student score and the final counts 50%. Additional points are awarded for in-class quizzes and attendance.
- Students must make a grade of 75 or higher to pass each class.
- Students must maintain a cumulative average of 80 or higher in all five classes to successfully complete the program.
- Students who fail a course may retake the class for a fee of $200. The student may continue with the program and reschedule for a future class.
Class Retake: Students required to retake a class must re-attend all class meetings and take the midterm and final exam. Students will be charged a retake fee. Students are responsible for all changes in textbooks and other materials.
Program Completion: A student has 18 months to complete the program. A six month extension may be granted upon approval. An extension fee may apply. Once your program has expired, to re-enter the program you must reapply and pay the full tuition.
Suspension of Attendance: Students wishing to suspend attendance to the program are required to provide written notice of suspension to the Program Director via email. Students are not entitled to a refund of tuition during their suspension. Suspension of attendance does not stop the clock on the 18 month period the student is allotted to complete the program. The student must notify the Program Director upon return to be placed in the appropriate class.
Successful Completion: A student has successfully completed the program if the following criteria have been met: compliance with the Grade policy, compliance with the Program Completion policy, and a student is in good financial standing and has no outstanding balance due the university.
Withdrawal: Students wishing to withdraw from the Program are required to provide written notice of the withdrawal to the Program Director.
