Join alumni of the Terry College of Business for Terry Talks with Tom Cotney, BBA '80, to discuss business and leadership

Tom Cotney is recognized as one of the top experts in the U.S. on managing & growing services businesses. In both public and privately held companies, Tom‘s responsibilities have ranged from start-up turnarounds to managing a team of over 8,500 professionals delivering service from 3 continents to clients across 40 U.S. states. His industry experience is concentrated in telecomunications, utilities, and IT services. He has managed and implemented 2 tiered operating models (on and off-shore), and has a comprehensive understanding of SaaS business models.

Tom spent over a decade at Apple and IBM, before taking on executive leadership roles with 2 local startups. Most recently, Tom’s professional time was devoted to Air2Web where he served as CEO of the company renowned for its end-to-end mobile marketing capability. In less than 3 years, Tom assumed the helm at Air2Web and converted it into a profitable, global business. In October of 2011, he executed the sale of Air2Web to Velti, a global firm headquartered in Athens, Greece and San Francisco. Tom also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Encover, Inc., a technology enabled outsourcing provider specializing in the sale of maintenance services for OEM’s and resellers until its sale to Synexx in November of 2010.

Tom is active in the Atlanta Community having raised over $3.5 million for the United Way. He serves on the Alumni Board of the Terry School of Business at UGA. He and his wife Kathy are parishioners at Christ the King Catholic Church.

Terry Talks connects younger Terry College alumni with alumni that have experienced successful careers in different areas of expertise in a small group setting.
