Mike Pfarrer is an Associate Professor of Management in the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He teaches strategic management to undergraduates, executives, MBAs, and Ph.D. students. Mike’s research focuses on corporate reputation, crisis management, and the business press. He is a research fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation and an Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Review.
Prior to pursuing an academic career, Mike worked as an investment consultant, language school director, and baseball player and coach in both the U.S. and in Austria. He enjoys traveling to Europe and speaking German to anyone who’ll listen. Mike and his family live in west Athens.

Tim Samples is an Assistant Professor of Legal Studies at Terry College. His current research focus is investor-state relations in Latin America. Professor Samples is frequently quoted in international business media—in outlets such as Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, NPR, Financial Times, BBC Mundo—and has made television appearances on CNN en Español.
Before joining the faculty at UGA, Professor Samples practiced law at Hogan Lovells, where he focused on international business transactions in Latin America. Before law school, he worked in Chile and Argentina. Professor Samples was born in California, went to UGA as an undergraduate, and has lived in Latin America several times. He speaks Spanish fluently and is proficient in Portuguese.

Laura Zimmermann is an assistant professor in the Department of International Affairs and the Department of Economics at the University of Georgia. Her research interests are in the areas of economic development and political economy with a focus on South Asia. Prior to joining the faculty at SPIA in August 2014, Dr. Zimmermann received her PhD in economics from the University of Michigan (2014), an MA in economics from the University of Michigan (2010), and a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from the University of Oxford (2008).

Hayley Johnson is a fourth year Management Major at the University of Georgia. She began her career with Target when she completed the Executive Internship in stores last August, 2014. Hayley is currently the Campus Liaison for Target at the University of Georgia. Her role includes educating students on campus about Target's excellent career and internship opportunities as well as sharing her personal story. Starting July 2015, Hayley will be working for Target full time as an Executive Team Leader in Stores.

Jackie Cannizzo, the Executive Director for the JCI Foundation, will be speaking on achieving greatness through leadership and sport. The JCI Foundation is an organization focused on promoting women's leadership in business, often through athletics. It strives to reach collegiate women in order to connect them with successful professional women to mentor and advise them through college and beyond. They use the experiences of fundraisers and leadership conferences to better understand the needs of young women in college as they look forward to their futures. She will be sharing info about how young women pursuing careers in business can benefit from education and mentorship of successful female professionals. Come meet Jackie and hear her WISE words!

Dr. Hoyt will be the speaker at IB Society L&L. Robert E. Hoyt is the Dudley L. Moore Jr. Chair and Professor of Risk Management and Insurance in the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He teaches corporate risk management and enterprise risk management and serves as the Department Head for Insurance, Legal Studies, and Real Estate. His research interests are focused in the areas of corporate hedging, enterprise risk management, catastrophe risk management, insurer operations, the economics of insurance fraud, liability system costs, and insurer insolvency. Interestingly enough, Dr. Hoyt is a tuba player, played in the Cornhusker Marching Band, and was President of the Classic City Band. Not surprisingly, his many trips to Germany have given him the opportunity to hear some great tuba players. He earned a minor in German, studied at a Goethe Institute in southern Germany on a DAAD scholarship, and completed a year of study at the University of Cologne on an ITT International Fellowship.
