    IB Society Lunch & Learn

    • Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 12:30pm1:30pm

Dr. Hoyt will be the speaker at IB Society L&L. Robert E. Hoyt is the Dudley L. Moore Jr. Chair and Professor of Risk Management and Insurance in the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He teaches corporate risk management and enterprise risk management and serves as the Department Head for Insurance, Legal Studies, and Real Estate. His research interests are focused in the areas of corporate hedging, enterprise risk management, catastrophe risk management, insurer operations, the economics of insurance fraud, liability system costs, and insurer insolvency. Interestingly enough, Dr. Hoyt is a tuba player, played in the Cornhusker Marching Band, and was President of the Classic City Band.  Not surprisingly, his many trips to Germany have given him the opportunity to hear some great tuba players. He earned a minor in German, studied at a Goethe Institute in southern Germany on a DAAD scholarship, and completed a year of study at the University of Cologne on an ITT International Fellowship.

    Employer Info Session: Fisher Investments

    • Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 6:30pm7:30pm

Fisher Investments is a registered investment advisor for high net worth individuals and institutions world-wide. We currently have about $60 billion in assets under management, and we want to bring that up to $200 billion in the next 10 years. We are looking for motivated seniors from all majors to help us reach our goal. Fisher Investments will be on the UGA campus for the Spring Career Fair, and we will be hosting an information session on the evening of January 28th at 6:30pm in Sanford Hall, room 314. Go DAWGS!

Each rotation will include area-specific performance goals and development opportunities. In every rotation, analysts will be tasked with performing complex analyses to optimize business processes, increase productivity, mitigate risks and/or maximize company revenue. For example, analysts may be responsible for designing and implementing “statistical process control” based reviews of critical business processes or be part of a team responsible for creating and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate company performance. Regardless of the individual rotation objectives, we expect our analysts to be comfortable attacking analytical problems and be capable of doing so with a creative bent. Analysts must have the ability to work well with various technical and analytical teams within the organization to produce meaningful summary analysis and recommendations from such efforts.

Following completion of the program, and with direct mentorship and guidance from senior management, the analysts are expected to select an area of focus where they will continue their professional development and direct their long-term career path at Credigy. Credigy invests in consumer finance related assets. Our disciplined yet adaptable investment strategy focuses on diversification within multiple geographies, numerous asset classes, varying levels of delinquency and flexible transaction types. In everything we do, our success is a result of our dedication to understanding risks and maximizing returns. Credigy is an industry leader with a global presence and we are committed to honoring best practices in all areas of our business. Credigy currently has operations in North America, South America and Europe, with our corporate headquarters located in Norcross, GA – a northeastern suburb of Atlanta.
