    Have you ever asked the question, I’m an Economics major, but what can I really do with that?  Or do you just have a general interest in learning more about Economics?  If so, please join us for Careers in Economics.  This event will include a panel of UGA Economics alumni who are now professionals in a variety of fields.  Come listen to them share advice and learn more about the many opportunities you have as an Economics/business major.  There will be time for networking and questions at the end. 

    The panel will be facilitated by our very own Dr. Chris Cornwell, the Terry Economics Department Head.

    WISE Up: Job & Internship Fair

    The 3rd annual WISE Up: Job & Internship Fair will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 6-8 pm at the Tate Student Center - room 137. Over the past two years, this event has been extremely successful in helping attendees build relationships with employers and secure jobs and internships in the sports and events industry. This year, we are thrilled to announce a great line up of companies visiting Athens, including: Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Falcons, CSE, IMG College, USTA, and the JCI Foundation! 

    The WISE Up: Job & Internship Fair is sponsored by the Women in Sports and Events (WISE) chapter at UGA.  The event will feature a keynote speech from Dr. Vicki Michaelis, former Olympic journalist and current Grady professor, as well as one-on-one networking opportunities with employers.

    Terry Talks with Mark Travis (AB Econ, ‘84), CEO of Intrepid Capital Management, Inc.

    Join us for a roundtable discussion with Mark Travis, president and CEO of Intrepid Capital Management, Inc. based in Jacksonville, FL. Mark is a co-founder of Intrepid Capital and oversees the investment process at Intrepid Capital Management. He is also the lead portfolio manager of the Intrepid Capital Fund, the separately managed Intrepid Balanced portfolio and the Intrepid Capital, L.P. Mr. Travis is also a member of the investment teams responsible for the Intrepid Small Cap Fund, Intrepid Disciplined Value Fund, Intrepid Income Fund and the Intrepid Small Cap, Intrepid Disciplined Value and Intrepid Income portfolios. He has 30 years of experience in asset management. Mark received his BA degree in Economics from the University of Georgia in 1984 and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Ponte Vedra Rotary Club.     Few arenas offer the amount of risk and reward for your career more than social media. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms offer plenty of opportunities for you to enhance your brand, or potentially damage your professional image. During this workshop, we will discuss a variety of social media Do's and Don'ts, including a general overview of good practices and tips for cleaning up your digital footprint!

    Students are welcome to bring along their laptops, tablets, or smartphones if they would like to follow along during the presentation.
