W. Douglas Benn is a veteran of the restaurant industry, having spent almost 30 years in management roles with restaurant companies. He is a graduate of the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia where he received an undergraduate degree in accounting in 1976 and a MAcc in 1982. In July 2017 he retired as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Cheesecake Factory Incorporated, a position he held since January 2009. The Cheesecake Factory is a publicly traded casual dining restaurant company with over $2 billion of annual revenue and 38,000 employees.
As The Cheesecake Factory chief financial officer, he was responsible for the day-to-day aspects of the company’s business including risk management, financial planning, and business strategy. He was also actively involved in communicating the company’s results and messaging its growth outlook to Wall Street investors.
Prior to joining the Cheesecake Factory, he was EVP and CFO of RARE Hospitality International, owner of the LongHorn Steakhouse and The Capital Grille concepts.
