Before founding Georgia Oak Partners, Michael Lonergan served as Vice President of Private Equity for Strategic Value Partners (SVP) in London, UK. SVP is a global hedge fund focused on value investing in distressed debt and private equity strategies. Michael led the diligence efforts on the review of control buyout transactions, as well as sourced and evaluated credit investments for SVP's "loan to own" strategy. Prior to joining SVP, Michael was with Sun European Partners in London and Sun Capital Partners in Boca Raton, Florida. With over $8 billion under management, Sun Capital is one of the world's most active turnaround private equity investors. While at Sun Capital, Michael evaluated and facilitated numerous turnaround control buyout investments, with the completion of deals from Spartanburg, SC to Lyon, France. Prior to joining Sun Capital, Michael began his career at the Atlanta offices of Houlihan Lokey and Wells Fargo's asset based lending group (legacy Wachovia Bank). Michael received a BBA in Finance and Management from the Terry College of Business at The University of Georgia. In addition, Michael is an active alumnus of the Beta-Lambda chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He enjoys fitness, tennis, boxing, Georgia Bulldog football and weekend trips to his hometown of St. Simons Island.
