U.S. Magistrate Judge Andrew Austin was appointed to the District Court of the Western District of Texas in 1999. Judge Austin received a bachelor's degree at the University of Virginia and a law degree from the University of Texas. He also received a master of philosophy in jurisprudence from Cambridge University. Judge Austin clerked for U.S. District Judge James R. Nowlin and practiced civil litigation in Texas for several years before his judicial appointment. He has been active as an adjunct professor and guest lecturer in various clinical programs at the University of Texas School of Law. Judge Austin enjoys fly fishing and cycling.
