    Delta Sigma Pi Entrepreneurship Panel

    This semester we will be conducting our first annual DSP Entrepreneurship Panel and it will be held October 22 in Caldwell Hall 304 from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm. Christopher Hanks (The director of the Entrepreneurship Program) will be the moderator and will be asking questions submitted by Terry students.

    We are planning on having four panelists:

    • Wanda J. Silva, founder and president of Silva Capital Solutions
    • A.C. Myers, founder of The Myers Group
    • Carrie Burns, CEO of Cre8ive Industries and partner of Atlanta Movie Tour, and
    • Mark Deal, founder of Foreign Investor Resource Group

    There will be in-depth questions about how panelists got their start, the ins and outs of their businesses, challenges and insights that they have for college students. Pi Chapter feels that it is vital to show students the realm of entrepreneurship and would love for you to be attend our panel.​​​

    Join us for a roundtable discussion with John Mattioli, Manager, Sponsorships and Event Marketing at Chick-fil-A. John is a 2007 graduate of the Terry College and Leonard Leadership Scholars program. He graduated with a double major in Finance and Marketing, pursuing a passion for marketing with Chick-fil-A, Inc.'s Sponsorships and Event Marketing group. Today, John manages Chick-fil-A's college sports and other marketing partnerships. Since 2009, John and his wife Mia (a UGA Biological Engineering graduate) have lived in Palo Alto, California, while Mia pursued her PhD from Stanford, which she completed this past summer. Chick-fil-A food will be provided.

    Travis is the Chief Investment Officer for Martin Ventures where he serves on the investment committee and is responsible for originating, structuring, and executing investments. Martin Ventures provides capital, operational support and mentoring to entrepreneurs who want to be catalysts for change, primarily focusing on health care and technology initiatives.

    Prior to joining Martin Ventures, Mr. Messina served as Vice President of Development for Vanguard Health Systems, where he focused on leading the diligence efforts for acute care and ambulatory acquisitions. Prior to Vanguard, Mr. Messina was a member of the Healthcare Investment Banking Group at Signal Hill Capital and worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. Before working at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, Mr. Messina worked in Bank of America’s middle-market banking group in Houston, and UBS PaineWebber’s technical research group in New York City.

    International Business Society Lunch & Learn

    Robert E. Hoyt is the Dudley L. Moore, Jr. Chair and Professor of Risk Management and Insurance in the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He teaches corporate risk management and enterprise risk management and serves as the Department Head for Insurance, Legal Studies, and Real Estate.

    His research interests are focused in the areas of corporate hedging, enterprise risk management, catastrophe risk management, insurer operations, the economics of insurance fraud, liability system costs and insurer insolvency.

    Interestingly enough, Dr. Hoyt is a tuba player, played in the Cornhusker Marching Band, and was president of the Classic City Band. Not surprisingly, his many trips to Germany have given him the opportunity to hear some great tuba players. He earned a minor in German, studied at a Goethe Institute in southern Germany on a DAAD scholarship, and completed a year of study at the University of Cologne on an ITT International Fellowship.
