    Terry Third Thursday: Will Harris, Owner/Operator, White Oak Pastures

    Will Harris runs White Oak Pastures, the Georgia farm his family has operated since 1866 (five generations). Under his leadership, the farm has returned to an environmentally sustainable and high animal welfare farming system.

    After receiving an animal science degree from UGA, Harris returned home and began to implement a number of sustainable farming practices. Today his cattle, sheep, hogs, goats and poultry are rotated through White Oak Pastures in the Serengeti Plains rotational grazing model. The farm now utilizes solar panels and its beef, goat and lamb are grass-fed. White Oaks also holds the distinction of being the only farm in the U.S. to have both a red meat plant and poultry processing that have been approved by the USDA.

    Come take part in UGA’s Next Top Entrepreneur hosted during Athens’ first ever StartUp week.

    The Next Top Entrepreneur is excited to be back and better than ever. This year's competition will be open to student startup teams from all over the country. Student teams can apply online until February 15th for a chance to be the Next Top Entrepreneur. The top teams will be selected to travel for an evening in Athens (or maybe stay all week) to compete in front of a live audience and panel of judges for a winner takes all cash prize of: $10,000.

    In partnership with Consensus Advisors and NASDAQ, the Entrepreneurship Program is excited to announce UGA's very first Collegiate Next Great Consumer Brands Competition. Teams from all over the country are invited to pitch their next great consumer brand idea for a chance to win a cash prize of $25,000. The winning team will also win an all expenses paid trip to New York City for the 6th annual Next Great Consumer Brands Conference in Times Square on April 27th, 2016.
