    Terry Third Thursday: Saxby Chambliss, Former U.S. Senator

    Saxby Chambliss served in the U.S. Senate for two terms and in the U.S. House of Representatives for four terms. Georgia Trend magazine, which regularly named him one of its Most Influential Georgians, called him "a highly visible and well-respected presence in Washington," and noted that he earned "a reputation as an affable but straight-talking lawmaker." Chambliss was first elected to Congress to represent Georgia's 8th District in 1994. Throughout his legislative career, he has been recognized numerous times by the public and private sectors for his work on agriculture, defense, budget and national security issues. During his tenure in the Senate, he served as a member of the Armed Services Committee; the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry; the Rules Committee; and his leadership and experience on homeland security and intelligence matters earned him an appointment to the Senate Committee on Intelligence, where he served as vice chairman from 2011 to 2014.

    Fundamentals of Finance

    Fundamentals of Finance is an online course that opens on August 24, 2015 and runs through December 4, 2015. A fundamental understanding of finances by leaders insures that all areas of the business are thoughtfully considered when evaluating and implementing strategic changes. In UGA’s online Fundamentals of Finance program, you’ll learn the basic concepts and analytical tools of finance in both corporate finance and investment. Once registered for Fundamentals of Finance, participants will have access to the class beginning from the next scheduled start date for three months. Participants work at their own pace, and thus can complete the class well before the three months expires but have the flexibility to work through the class and return to any module at their own pace throughout three months. Upon completion of the class, participants will receive a Fundamentals of Finance Certificate from Terry College of Business, University of Georgia.

    Project Management

    The four-and-a-half day program, which complies with the Project Management Institute guidelines, will enable participants to grow their leadership skills in a project environment. The course will feature a combination of lectures, case studies, team and individual exercises and team development of a real-life project. This Project Management course provides 35 hours of project management education, meeting education requirements for both PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) ® and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications.
