Our Mission
The mission of Terry College’s Office of Diversity Relations is to:
- Identify opportunities for the College to increase the diversity of its students, faculty and staff
- Propose and implement action plans that increase diversity
- Monitor the College’s performance in achieving its short-term and long-term goals related to diversity
The Terry College recognizes that diversity often has different meanings to different people, so our view of diversity encompasses broad individual perspectives that include — but are not limited to — race/ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, education, work experiences, religion, and career aspirations.
Responsibilities and Duties
Specific responsibilities and duties of the Office of Diversity Relations include:
- Coordinate and assist faculty and staff efforts to recruit and retain diverse faculty, staff, and students.
- Assist with the establishment and maintenance of contacts with public entities and private industries in an effort to secure funding for internships, scholarships, and work experiences for interested students and teachers.
- Serve as the liaison to national/state diversity professional/lay organizations to enhance diversity in the Terry College.
- Serve as a supplemental advisor (or counselor) to diverse students in the Terry College of Business.
- Coordinate the efforts of diversity programs in the Terry College of Business with the University’s Department of Intercultural Affairs, Multicultural Services and Programs Office, Admissions Office, Office of Institutional Diversity, and Career Planning and Placement Office.
- Represent the Terry College of Business at University-sponsored diversity functions and activities.
