Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) offers several scholarships for undergraduate and graduate study. Applicants are eligible for one scholarship per school year and are limited to a total of two scholarship awards. Award amounts range from $1,000 to $5,000.

Association of Blind Citizens Scholarship Program

The Association of Blind Citizens will offer $10,000 in college scholarships to legally blind individuals seeking a college degree. The Reggie Johnson Memorial Scholarship will be valued at $2000 and seven $1000 scholarships will be available. The scholarship may be applied to tuition, living expenses or related expenses resulting from blindness.

As part of our service to people with dwarfism and the community at large, LPA offers educational scholarships to prospective and current students attending college or vocational school in the Unite States. Awards can range from $250 to $1000, sometimes more. A scholarship committee, headed by LPA's Vice President of Programs, will selectively review all scholarship application packets.

National Federation for the Blind Scholarship Program

Each year at its national convention in July, the NFB gives a broad array of 30 scholarships to recognize achievement by blind scholars. All applicants for these scholarships:

  • Must be legally blind.
  • Must be pursuing or planning to pursue a full-time, postsecondary course of study in a degree program at a United States' institution in the 2008 scholastic year, except that one scholarship may be given to a person employed full-time while attending school part-time.
  • Must participate in the entire NFB national convention and in all scheduled scholarship program activities.

In addition to a scholarship, each winner will be brought to the 2008 National Federation of the Blind Annual Convention in July at Federation expense, providing an excellent opportunity for high level networking with active blind persons in many, many different professions and occupations. Deadline: March 31, 2008

The Jewish Guild for the Blind Guild Scholar Program

The Jewish Guild for the Blind has created an annual scholarship program for college bound high school students who are legally blind . Applications will be accepted from students at the end of their junior year, with recipients selected and scholarships awarded the following academic year. The GuildScholar Program will award 12 to15 scholarships of up to $15,000 each

East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes for U.S. Graduates Students

The program, jointly supported and sponsored by NSF and National Science Council of Taiwan, EAPSI provides U.S. graduate students with the opportunities to attend an academic apprenticeship in Taiwan from June to August each year.

Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP): http://tigp.sinica.edu.tw/ Academia Sinica of Taiwan set up the Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) in 2002, in order to attract young scholars from around the globe to its campus for advanced, inter-disciplinary studies. In cooperation with the top universities in Taiwan, TIGP will offer about eight program options. All courses will be conducted in English and scholarships and research grants are available for qualified students. TIGP is a unique and exciting intellectual community that will provide young scholars with tremendous opportunities for academic and personal growth.

The Point Foundation

The Point Foundation is a national, publicly-supported scholarship fund that provides financial support, mentoring and hope to meritorious undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students who are marginalized because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Awards amounts vary based on need, and are renewed annually until the completion of one's degree as long as key expectations are met in the "Contract of Excellence" signed by each Scholar, which includes a requirement to maintain a 3.5 GPA. This scholarship is awarded once a year to one student. A candidate for this scholarship must be enrolled full time at a 2 or 4 year college or university.

Applicants must be Native Americans, and proof of American Indian blood is required by letter or proof papers. Students must demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and have a 3.0 GPA or higher. A recipient may reapply for this scholarship and be considered along with other members of the applicant pool.

The amount of scholarship is based on total return of the endowment, and may vary year to year. Deadline: February 1

National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Native American Scholarship

The American Indians Committee of the DAR awards this scholarship to Native Americans. This award is intended to help Native American students of any age, any tribe, in any state striving to get an education. All awards are judged based on financial need and academic achievement. Specify that you want information on the American Indian Scholarship when you send the stamped self addressed envelope for information.

This scholarship is intended to help Native American college/university and technical school students of any age, any tribe, in any state at the undergraduate or graduate level. Graduate students are eligible; however, undergraduate students are given preference.

Applicants must be Native American (proof of American Indian blood is required by letter or proof papers), in financial need, and have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher. There will be no exceptions. This is a one time $500 award.

Third Wave Scholarship Program

For young women: Third Wave Foundation's Scholarship Program for Young Women is available to all full-time or part-time students age 30 and under who are enrolled in, or have been accepted to, an accredited university, college or community college. The primary criteria for funding is financial need. Students should also be involved as activists, artists, or cultural workers working on issues such as racism, homophobia, sexism, or other forms of inequality. Awards range from $1000 to $5000.
