PhD Program
The doctoral programs of the Terry College of Business, including the Ph.D. in Business Administration and the Ph.D. in Economics, emphasize the development of research and teaching skills. Graduates are well prepared to begin careers at research universities or in certain industries or government agencies.
Our doctoral programs are small and highly selective. They are structured to foster a close, long-term interaction between faculty and students. The programs are also highly specialized and allow students to specialize in areas aligned with the academic departments of the Terry College. This means that coursework, research projects, and teaching assignments are under the direction of the faculty within a particular department. The program is individually planned with each student by his or her major professor and advisory committee. The student and the committee evaluate previous work and designate sufficient coursework to provide the necessary proficiency to do research and teach in the student’s chosen field.
